Merrick, NY, January 24, 2007 -- Forever 9-The Robbie Levine Foundation is well underway planning its next 5K road race, the 2nd annual Robbie's Run, to take place on Sunday, April 29. This annual event is in memory of Robbie Levine, the boy from Merrick who died at age 9 of sudden cardiac arrest during baseball practice in 2005.

An immensely successful event, last year's inaugural Robbie's Run drew 1,250 registered participants - four times the usual amount for a road race. The event provides our region's runners and walkers with a professionally planned and executed 5K run, and brings Long Islanders together for a spectacular morning complete with refreshments, raffle prizes, giveaways and quality entertainment for the whole family - all with a supreme sense of spirit and community. The main sponsors of this year's run are Coleman Family Day Camps and New York City-based C-Bass.

"Thanks to our generous sponsors and tireless volunteers, this annual fundraiser is what will help the foundation reach its goals," say Jill and Craig Levine, Robbie's parents. Not only did the first Robbie's Run raise over $35,000, it raised an enormous amount of awareness for children's heart disease and the need to have AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) on youth athletic fields. The foundation uses its earnings to educate the public on the importance of AEDs and is producing a video that will be given to all youth athletic leagues across Long Island. "We don't want this to happen to any other family, and feel this video is a good vehicle to express that," adds Jill. The foundation also covers the cost of an AED for each league that decides to have one available at their games, and makes donations as needed relating to this cause.
